Engineered wood flooring is a type of flooring that has a multilayer structure and is covered with a top layer of real wood veneer. It is typically installed using adhesive or locking systems. Engineered wood floors are durable, easy to clean, and generally more cost-effective than solid wood floors. They are also more resistant to changes in humidity and temperature.
2-layer engineered wood floors consist of a top and a bottom layer:
Bottom Layer:
This layer is made from softwoods such as birch, where small strips are glued together both horizontally and vertically to create a plywood board with a thickness of 9-10-14 mm. This layer increases the floor's resistance to warping and provides stability.
Top Layer:
This layer is 3-6 mm thick and is made from quality hardwoods. It gives the flooring its primary appearance and can be sanded down to maintain its look over time.
